What it is: An all-purpose, imperative artificial
language developed within the early '70s, C is that the oldest and most
generally used language, providing the building blocks for different
fashionable languages, such as C#, Java, JavaScript and Python. C is usually
used for implementing operational systems and embedded applications.
Because it provides the inspiration for several
different languages, it's sensible to be told C (and C++) before moving on to
others.
